Our foster child has been with us for 5 months now and it has been so much fun watching her grow, learn new things and get stronger. She is now 16 pounds but when we fold her 6 month clothes, we are constantly thinking it is too small for her but they still fit.
She is eating baby food. I wish I could share the video her first bites (we started with bananas). It is hilarious – she had the look of “am I being punked?” on her face. She is a pro at it now though. Her favorite is green bean, oddly enough, but she will eat anything (so far).
She has started rolling both ways (front to back and back to front). For a while she would only roll to the right but now she’s figured out how to get herself rolling to the left. She is getting stronger sitting up but she’s not quite ready to be unsupported. We’ve noticed she has more periods of being very quiet with a pensive look on her face as if she is trying to figure out what is going on in the world around her.
She has been a little delayed in hitting her milestones but she gets there in her own time. She has some weakness in her shoulders and hips so we started seeing a physical therapist (who we love) to help us get her stronger. She has blast “exercising” but it wears her out.
All in all, it has been an amazing to watch her turn into this super happy, loving, goofy baby (yes, I said goofy – she can be quite silly at times). I can’t wait to see what new things she learns in the next couple of weeks.
